[CANMEDLIB] changes to CMA programs and services / des changements à des programmes et services à l'AMC

Good morning, colleagues,

As of last week – physicians no longer have access to the CPS and DynaMed included in their CMA membership, so you may be hearing from some who are looking for help. We continue to direct physicians to alternate affiliations via this page<https://joulecma.ca/alternative-clinical-information-providers>. (Thank you to the Canadian health library community for assisting with flagging updates and omissions in recent months). If you have done any specific outreach to physicians regarding these changes that you would like us to link to from this page (e.g., Nova Scotia Health posted this - CMA membership clinical tools discontinued: Making the switch to Nova Scotia Health’s subscriptions and services<https://library.nshealth.ca/Home/News/CMA-Membership-Clinical-Tools-Discontinued>) – please send them our way – librarian at cma.ca<mailto:librarian at cma.ca>.

To support physicians (especially those who are community-based/unaffiliated) as CMA transitions away from clinical support, we also worked with suppliers of CPS, DynaMed and UpToDate to negotiate special rates<https://joulecma.ca/important-updates-about-clinical-tools-and-services#alt> for physicians (40% discount off CPS Full Access<https://www.pharmacists.ca/products-services/cps-for-physicians/?lang=en&utm_source=CMA&utm_medium=website&utm_campaign=CPSphysicians&utm_content=CMAwebpage>, 25% discount off DynaMed<https://www.dynamed.com/store/checkout/price_1NIZtAC0vBTP6nAtKxpZX08a> and 15% discount off UpToDate<https://www.uptodate.com/renew>). Please feel free to direct physicians to these discounts.

Three remaining tools - CPG Infobase (clinical practice guidelines), ClinicalKey (ejournals, textbooks, clinical overviews and more) and POEMs/Essential Evidence Plus (daily clinical emails/point-of-care information) – will continue to be available until December 1, 2023 via the CMA Joule website<https://joulecma.ca/clinical-tools>.

We wanted to inform this group that yesterday, the Canadian Medical Association (CMA) announced<https://www.cma.ca/news/focusing-impact-upcoming-changes-cma-programs-and-services> changes to its programs and services. I can confirm that we will be retiring our clinical information tools<https://joulecma.ca/clinical-tools>, including the Ask a Librarian service<https://joulecma.ca/clinical-tools/ask-a-librarian>, as well as CMAJ Open<https://www.cmajopen.ca/> in 2023. Specific expiry dates are posted on each clinical tool webpage. These decisions will have staffing implications, including reassignments and departures. We would ask you to take note of these changes and coordinate the appropriate changes to your websites, catalogue and/or discovery platforms and any relevant instructional materials.

We are providing a listing of alternate information providers<https://joulecma.ca/alternative-clinical-information-providers> for physicians and medical learners who may have access to clinical information tools and/or library services through their affiliation with a hospital, health system, medical school library or other organization. The list is not exhaustive and excludes libraries that do not have a public website. Suggestions for additions can be sent to librarian at cma.ca<mailto:librarian at cma.ca>.
