Nothing’s really changed for us. We continue to work from home. We’re fortunate, though, in that most of our spaces have been converted to staff respite centres, so they’re open to staff and learners, but being managed by our Wellness dept. Given the increasing case numbers in Ontario, I don’t foresee this changing any time soon.

Good afternoon everyone,
I am wondering what the status is for everyone regarding Library services reopening or working from home across the country.
Thanks,

Hi Lisa, we’re still operating under the directive that “if you can work from home, then stay home.” The one thing this pandemic has shown us is that most of our work can be done from home.
That said, in preparation for returning/reopening, I have had IPAC come in and assess some of our work spaces. We’re also in the process of sourcing plexiglass shields for some of our information desks. Many of our spaces are already set up for physical distancing as they’ve been repurposed into respite centres for staff during the pandemic. Currently the respite centres are scheduling through September, and our chief medical officer is expecting a second wave of COVID around October in conjunction with flu season. So, doing the math, I don’t see us returning to regular operations any time soon.

Subject: [External] [CANMEDLIB] Reopening hospital libraries
Good morning everyone and happy Friday!
As we move through the stages of reopening and people are gradually returning to their workplaces, we have been starting to think about what reopening our physical library spaces might look like. We wondered if there are any hospital libraries that have either already opened or are planning to do so in the near future, and if there is anyone that would be willing to share their thoughts or experiences, it would be very helpful. If so, please feel free to contact us off listserv at libraryg at hhsc.ca<mailto:libraryg at hhsc.ca>.
Thank you,
Lisa
