Hi Jessica (and CANMEDLIB members),
Thank you for sending this letter on behalf of the association. How will we as an association hold the to account for a response to the letter? Do you have any ideas about how members can build on this letter to help disseminate the message? Can we take excepts and tweet them, for example? I would love to help to find ways to support how much of a loss this is to the whole Canadian health care community. There was a time when CMA was support of our work on the proposal for a Canadian National Network of Libraries for Health, so this is quite a turnaround.
Also, let’s not forget that CMA sold MD management for $2.585 billion in October 2018. They have also closed CMAJ Open. As an organization, they can be what they want, but are no longer active partners with the library community in evidence-based health care.
Anyways, I’m happy to help advocate in any way.
Take care,
Jessie

As many of you have heard, the Canadian Medical Association (CMA) has recently announced changes to their programs and services<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/www.memberleap.com/ct.php?lid=217437471&mm=204514310719__;!!CjcC7IQ!KxPUFAMRRk6UQqVajV6JnTQZXJzgDIy3iRmzYKMqNSalAJCnkIvVjNORTnvTZvFya7XQY5Df9AFPyE8k-Ik$>. This includes the decision to retire its clinical information tools and services, along with the Ask A Librarian service.
CHLA/ABSC, with support from SAHLA, OVHLA, THLA, SHLA, HLABC, NAHLA, MAHIP, and WWDHLN, has sent a letter in response to the CMA <https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/www.memberleap.com/ct.php?lid=217438693&mm=204514310719__;!!CjcC7IQ!KxPUFAMRRk6UQqVajV6JnTQZXJzgDIy3iRmzYKMqNSalAJCnkIvVjNORTnvTZvFya7XQY5Df9AFPMJ5ZcoU$> regarding our concerns with these decisions.
