[CANMEDLIB] Question - Patient Portals and Access to Information Delay

Hello,

I have been asked to look into whether hospitals have a delay in making test results available on their patient portal. If there is a delay, it is referred to as "information blocking".

There doesn't appear to be a standard in use. Some hospitals put the results up immediately for their patients to see, while others may wait a week or longer.

If you are able to share or refer me to someone in your organization regarding what your hospital's policy is, it would be greatly appreciated.
