[CANMEDLIB] Difficulty defining 'tertiary-ambulatory' care

Dear colleagues,

I have a question I'm finding very challenging to answer through the literature, and I would welcome any ideas or insights from your collective wisdom.

I have been asked to find descriptions or definitions of 'tertiary ambulatory care' or 'tertiary ambulatory clinics'. I work in a university-affiliated teaching hospital oriented towards tertiary care, and the question is about the characteristics of ambulatory clinics in this specific context.

Definitions of tertiary care are easy to find, but assuming that tertiary ambulatory clinics have a specific purpose - a definition of that specific purpose or function doesn't seem to exist.

I have already spent several hours searching various databases and browsing articles, books and grey literature.
